Have you ever noticed that some people are just quiet? You see them in your groups and activities, but you almost never hear a peep out of them. They seem content to just be in the background, taking everything in, feeling no compulsion to express an opinion or share their feelings.
Since I’m one of these folks who wants to talk all the time, and who thinks everybody is interested in my opinions, I seldom know what to make of quiet people. I confess, I tend to be a bit suspicious of them. What are they thinking? Is there something they are trying to hide? Are they just snobbish and unfriendly? Or could it be they are just genuinely humble and totally secure in their own circumstances?
Maybe I should just ask them why they are so quiet. The first words I hear from them may be “Mind your own business”. Maybe I could stand to be a little more like them.
