One Minute of Your Time Please

There’s a wise, old saying that goes: “Little kids, little problems. Big kids, big problems.” My mother used to repeat that to me when our children were very young and we would be exhausted chasing them around and trying to keep them entertained and under control. Now I find myself saying it to my daughter, who has four small tots of her own.

It’s not much consolation when your little ones are running wild, but it certainly holds truer than ever in today’s world. Teenagers today are exposed to so many different voices out there, many of which can lead them to serious trouble. Once they start driving cars and dating and holding down jobs, they enter realms where you can no longer be there constantly to protect them. Those are big concerns.

So enjoy those little ones. When they carelessly spill chocolate milk all over your brand new white sofa, try to smile, and remember that one day they will climb into a car with someone you’ve never met and drive off to who knows where. Now that’s a big kid problem. Love them hard and set a good example for them while you still can.
