One Minute of Your Time Please

Have you ever noticed that you don’t really think about being hungry when you’re busy? I’m convinced the secret to stop overeating, or to losing weight, is to keep yourself occupied with something. Work, a hobby, socializing with friends, volunteer jobs, just something.

The worst case scenario is to just be sitting in a chair watching TV. Unless the program is absolutely riveting (and most of today’s TV is not), there’s nothing to occupy your mind except the thought of how hungry you are, and what’s in the house to eat? You may fight it off for a while, but ultimately you will head to the fridge or the pantry.

I have tried to develop healthier eating habits. These days, when I am tempted to go get an unhealthy snack, instead I head into my office and start writing something. Like this blog entry for instance. Only thing is, now this blog entry is finished and I’m starting to feel hungry again. Good time to start that book I’ve been meaning to write.
