I am just not good at waiting in line. If the line is moving forward I’m okay. But if I’m not making progress it doesn’t take long for me to start fidgeting and fussing and get generally frustrated. The weird thing is, I may not even be in a hurry. I may have nothing else to do all day, but I still get agitated and grumpy when I have to wait.
So you can imagine how well I deal with waiting on God’s timing for something. When I pray and ask Him for something that only He can do, I quickly get disappointed if it doesn’t happen quickly, or perhaps doesn’t happen at all.
We all need to just trust that God has the universe under His control and is working for the good, often in ways we don’t understand. I know this, and yet my impatience persists. Don’t be like me. Remember that old song “Don’t Worry, Be Happy”?
Whoever wrote that song obviously never had to wait in line.
